Child Find
Child Find is a federal mandate under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires all school districts to identify, locate and evaluate all children who may have a disability, regardless of the severity or nature of their disability. This includes all children ages 2.5 to 22 who reside in the school district, including children who are being home-schooled and those who are placed by parents in for-profit private schools.
The Timberlane Regional School District (SAU 106) offers access to Child Find services for all children residing in the towns of Atkinson, Danville, Plaistow, and Sandown. The district offers Child Find screening opportunities for children ages 2.5 through 6 twice during the school year (November and January). Parents/guardians who suspect that their child is not developing skills at age-appropriate milestones and wish to have their child screened are encouraged to contact the Child Find Coordinator to make an appointment. Screenings may be conducted in the areas of communication, motor, social, adaptive, and cognitive skills. Vision and hearing screenings are also available. Results are then shared with parents.
Parents/guardians of children who are already registered and attending school within the district are encouraged to reach out to their child’s teacher or building administrator. If your child is homeschooled or attends a private school, please reach out to the Child Find Coordinator.
Please contact Karen Radjavitch, Child Find Coordinator at (603) 887-3648 x5812 or karen.radjavitch@timberlane.net
